Sometimes senior clients come with an idea in mind as to what they want or a prop they must use.  In this case, the senior wanted to use the American Flag in her shoot and photographer Lisa Williams of Lisa Williams Photography happens to carry one with her at all times.

Check out this beautiful session below and read what else Lisa had to share.  Thanks for sharing your work with Seniorologie Lisa!

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Building confidence and connection

Where did this photo shoot take place?
Marysville, CA, A walnut orchard/ranch run by the most adorable 90 year old gentleman who was so kind to let us use his property on a whim…driving by we noticed how amazing it was…took the chance to ask permission and he was thrilled.

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
yes…for this shoot it was mostly the poses…and the flag (she really wanted a flag and I happen to always have this one with me). The senior found inspiration “eyes”, the MUA nailed it =) The concept was for her to feel confident/photogenic in the pic (she had told me she has never felt that way)…so for me it was building the connection,  trust and confidence…To see someone that looks like this and doesn’t feel confident in how she photographed is very intriguing to me…Unfortunately, most teens can relate to this feeling. There is nothing better than to reveal a session and have the girls blown away by how they look & ooze confidence in the images.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Nikon D800, I used Sigma lenses: 1.8 80mm & 70-200 2.8 (my FAVE), Nikon 50mm 1.4. A free standing reflector was used when needed.

What time of day were these taken?
5pm ish

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I used Florabella’s Perfect Color (adjusted some of the layers) & Sharpen/Defog, Portraiture for the skin &  Added a little more contrast

What is your favorite thing about this session?
The way the senior “blossomed” as we started shooting and seeing her images on camera & the  location was pretty dang ahhhhMAZING!

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
connection & confidence…I want to show that there is a connection with each senior that gets in front of my camera…it is the most important aspect of every shoot….and to show how easy it is to get a serious look from my clients…a lot of clients are stressed about the serious looks….but, not long after we start working they get it…

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
CONNECT with them, they are at an exciting and sometimes scary time in their lives…give them positive reinforcement that it only gets better.
