What is the perfect location for a senior photo shoot?  Well if you live near one of the Happiest places on earth, Disneyland is the perfect place for a fun senior photo shoot!

Lauren Guilford of Lauren Guilford Photography took this senior to one of her favorite places on earth for her photo shoot.  This senior not only loves to visit the park but she loves to hang out with her friends here.  And according to Lauren, one of this senior’s friends came along for some of the shoot and they all had a ball!!

By photographing this senior at one of her favorite places, wearing her favorite boots, she will be able to look back on her photos will a smile!  Great job Lauren!!

Be sure to check out Lauren’s other work here and read below for more information on this session!  Thanks Lauren!

What was your inspiration for the photo shoot?
The senior herself! 🙂 It’s really important to me that my seniors feel that their sessions reflect their personalities. One of the first things I do when planning a senior session is ask them if there are any places or things that they love and that convey who they are. From the very beginning this senior wanted to do her shoot here!
Where did this photo shoot take place?
This shoot took place at Disneyland! 🙂 The OG one – Anaheim, CA.
Since this shoot was in such a crowded area, how did you find the perfect locations without the distraction of park goers?
For everyone who has ever been to Disneyland, they know it is always – ALWAYS – crowded. I knew going into this shoot that we were going to have to do a little bit more work to avoid excessive distractions in the photos. We did end up finding a few hidden nooks that worked out perfectly, however for the most part we would be patient and wait for that perfect moment in between park goers passing by!
Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
This senior wanted to incorporate her cowboy boots that were handed down to her by her mom. I loved that idea and ran with it by taking advantage of the Frontier Land portion of Disneyland where there is a wild west theme.
What camera, lens and equipment were used for this shoot?
For this shoot I used my D700 with my 24-70 mm f/2.8 (my work-horse lens).
What time of day were these taken?
These were taking in the late afternoon/early evening…nothing beats that golden hour of light – right? 🙂
Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I edited these images in LR and using VSCO presets – since I am a hybrid shooter (digital + film) VSCO helps my digital images be more cohesive with my film images.
What is your favorite thing about this session?
I have to say Disneyland! It was the first time I had a client session in the park and seeing that I am a Disney fan myself it was lots of fun 🙂
What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
Hopefully seeing this, people can see that I love to think outside of the box for my senior sessions. Collaborating with my seniors to give them a unique session that fits their personality is my constant goal. I think that having this senior’s shoot at Disneyland was perfect. Not only does it show her love for the theme park but it also shows her fun-loving and sweet personality.
What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Don’t be afraid to collaborate with your seniors! This is such an important time in their life and I think senior photographers have a gift that allows us to highlight these seniors as they look forward to this new chapter of life!
