Having your Senior Reps earn their personal senior photo session is a great way to motivate them to spread your name.  Plus, you get to take their photos and give them a unique senior portrait experience just for them!

“Ashley is one of my 2015 Senior Reps and this was her senior session,” said Katie Myrick of Katie Myrick Photography.  “She is a complete natural in front of my camera and she totally rocked her session.”

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Ashley wanted a “Beachy” vibe to her pictures but wanted something a little different from the typical beach senior pictures everybody else is doing. She will be moving across the United States to California, so she wanted to make sure that she captured the east coast vibe before she left.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
The session took place on the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina in the quiet little water town of Manteo, NC. It has the cutest downtown area and it complimented her outfits and props perfectly.

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
Ashley wanted to incorporate a cute bicycle into her pictures and it went perfectly with the location I picked. She was very hands on with choosing her outfits and made sure that each outfit complimented each location.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Nikon D700 and 85mm f/1.8

What time of day were these taken?
6pm-8pm

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I love a good clean edit. I edit in LR and do not use any presets. My goal is to get the image as perfect in camera so that not a lot of editing has to occur after. I don’t want my seniors to look or feel like they are plastic.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
I loved Ashley’s fashion and props. That mint dress, sunglasses and hat was just absolute perfection. She really took the time and put a lot of attention to detail and you can see it in all of her outfits 🙂

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
Ashley has moxie. She is a beautiful girl with a sweet adventurous soul and I feel like this session is so HER! My photography style is centered around making each girl feel beautiful and capturing who they are right now.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Be their friend. Have fun. Be silly. Show them how beautiful they really are. Give them a peek on the back of your camera. Make them feel comfortable….and Enjoy every minute!
