Music is such a huge inspiration.  No matter what genre, year or style, music can inspire an entire creative photo shoot!  Today’s submission is a 60’s music-scene creative shoot.

“We were inspired by the music scene of Austin, Texas as well as by Amy Winehouse, the B52’s, my own mother and everything that was fabulous in the 60’s,” said Leah Godfredson of Ever After Photography in San Antonio, Texas.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
Downtown Austin, TX

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I used Mastin Lab’s Fuji 160NS film preset during post-processing to give the images a bit of pop.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
It was incredibly rewarding to work with these girls to create something that was much bigger and better than anything I could have done by myself. They had a part of every step; from concept to planning and finally execution. It gave them a sense of belonging and fostered teamwork, and enabled me to focus on the things that I’m best at.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
Initially I simply wanted to give my seniors a great experience with me, but after speaking with them the goal became to showcase an edgier side of their personalities. They wanted images that were more than just pretty pictures, and they weren’t afraid to step out of their comfort zone for a completely different look.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
My biggest tip is to involve them as much as possible. The seniors today love to brain-storm ideas, collaborate on outfits and help find locations.
