Being inspired by a mega brand like Kate Spade can allow you to create all kinds of photo shoots!  This particular session was inspired by a Kate Spade logan, “Eat Cake for Breakfast!”  What a great idea! 🙂

“I teamed up with Roses and Lace, www.rosesandlacestyle.com, to create a styled senior session that embraced Kate Spade’s motto “East Cake For Breakfast,” said Tasha Creel of Tasha Rae Photography in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  “This session was full of girly details showcasing Kate Spade attire, roses and of course, the color pink.”

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
“Eat Cake for Breakfast” was our inspiration for the shoot. We wanted our seniors to feel like this was their special day and no matter if it’s your birthday or just a regular day of the week, have fun and do something out of the ordinary. The flower backdrop created a dramatic and fun environment in an ordinary place.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
In the historic downtown of Donaldsonville,LA
What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
For this shoot I used my Canon 5D Mark III and my 85mm 1.2. The 85mm is on my camera 90% of the time for my senior sessions.

What time of day were these taken?
430pm

What is your favorite thing about this session?
My favorite thing about this session was the styling. I love light-hearted-girly photoshoots. Anything with hints of Kate Spade is a photoshoot with my name on it! My friend, Stephanie (Roses and Lace Styling), designed the floral backdrop and I LOVE how it came out!

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I think this stylized session really embraces how fun it is to be a high school senior. It’s a time in a seniors life when it’s all about them and their likes and dislikes – what makes them tick. It important to make every Senior session a little different so your work doesn’t form patterns, and make each girl feel like who they are is captured in their portraits. Offering clients alternatives, such as stylized session is a way to create something the you as a photographer can enjoy as well as the clients.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
When it comes to senior sessions just let things happen naturally! The worst thing to do is get nervous and worked up about something and let that get in the way of capturing natural moments of your seniors. Always go into a session with a game plan, but don’t worry about the logistics so much.
