A month ago, I had the honor to attend The Kitchen Sink Workshop by Amanda Holloway.  Not only did I learn a ton, but I also had a ton of fun and left with a ton of images for my portfolio.

The Kitchen Sink Workshop is an opportunity to learn everything from how to run a successful senior photography business to how to pose and edit images.  During this workshop, I spent two days with 10 other photographers and bonded with each of them.  We all were learning at different levels of photography and Amanda made sure to address each level.

We started off each day of the workshop in the classroom, learning things such as marketing, branding, pricing, order sessions and much, much more! In the afternoon, we watched Amanda go through the wardrobe of a senior and make suggestions on what to wear.  We got to watch the process of working with a makeup artist and see the importance of this for senior sessions.  We each got to photograph seniors in the beautiful city of New Orleans and watch Amanda work with these seniors and show us poses and how to utilize natural light.

Amanda created the perfect environment for learning by promoting togetherness and not competition.  She gave us all opportunities to learn from her as well as each other.  The girls that attended this workshop with me and Amanda were amazing!  I now have 11 new friends and I couldn’t be more excited to watch each of them grow in their photography business.  You see, we each share a love of photography.  We are each trying to better our businesses and learn as much as we can about this thing we all love.  Being with people who have the same love of something as you do, forces you to bond.  Spending time together almost 24 hours a day also forces you to bond!  And experiencing the things that happen throughout the week (Sean, Bon Qui Qui, etc) ties you together forever.  Late night editing causing you to laugh uncontrollably, sharing meals and stories together and experiencing a new city together all create a basis for a lasting friendship between me and these wonderful ladies I got to hang out with!

It’s like that movie quote…”we’ll always have…New Orleans!”  And every single one of these ladies will know exactly what that statement means!  Thanks Amanda, Maureen, Kelly, Jennifer, Kristin, Wendy, Shea, Brianna, Carrie, Barbie and Alissa for making this experience the best yet!!  You are all awesome and I still smile thinking of our time in New Orleans!  And laugh at many, many things! 🙂

Here are a few images from each of the awesome ladies that learned from Amanda at this workshop.
