We are all inspired by different things.  Some of us are visual and are inspired by things we see.  Some of us are spiritual and are inspired by our beliefs.  And still others are inspired by words.

Lillie Duncan of Redeeming Love Photography in Fort Worth, Texas said, “Ever since I could remember, I have read poems and recorded quotes that stood out to me.  I love the quote for this shoot and its comparison of light and beauty.”

What time of day were these taken?
6:30-8:30pm (Golden Hour)

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
Absolutely! I love editing! I use Lightroom for everything.

As soon as I get home I upload all of my photos and save them on my computer. Then the next day after a good nights sleep and refreshed mind I open up my Lightroom and begin to cull. I go off of gut instinct…if it doesn’t capture my eye in 5 seconds I mark it with an X and keep going. I typically cull twice. I narrow it down to at least 50 because I know once I start editing there will be pictures I get rid of during the process. The will leave me with at least 35-40 images.

After I cull my images I run a mixed preset that I created for myself. I use a base preset from Mastin Labs (if you love film, check them out!) I then tweak my exposure, white balance, and curve. These three things help keep my work looking consistent.

I don’t do a lot of editing, so in 2-4 hours I can complete a whole session.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
It is definitely the golden light that was coming through the trees. And, of course, getting to spend this precious time capturing Mia’s sweetness.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I think this session shows off my style perfectly. From the light, nature, type of clothing, to the sweet girl being captured.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Try to remember what it was like to be young with the whole world ahead of you. Share with them the true meaning of beauty.
