Senior model shoots vary from the individual shoot to the group shoot; from the elaborate concept to the fashion-driven photo shoot.  Anyway you choose to set your model shoot up, be sure to showcase your models in the best way that represents your brand.

Below is the Class of 2015 Senior Model Shoot from Lindsay Horn or Lindsay Horn Photography.  Lindsay says that this shoot was a culmination of a 6-week model selection process and about 2 months of planning.

“I could not be more thrilled with how it all came together,” said Lindsay.  “I enjoyed collaborating on this shoot with fabulous makeup artist Shanna Gobin of Style by Shanna and her team for hair and makeup, Altar’d State for clothing and Carly McCleskey for wardrobe styling.”

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
When planning this shoot, I took a lot of inspiration from our beautiful location. I knew that I wanted to shoot on this property from the very beginning because of the great variety in looks it offers and the logistical ease of having everything from getting ready to shooting take place at one location. I had a vague idea of the two styled groups I wanted to shoot, and stepping into Altar’d State and seeing the beautiful clothing options helped bring those ideas to life. We were able to pull the perfect outfits for a boho concept and a romantic concept, while making sure the full group looked coordinated as well.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
This shoot took place on the beautiful 3825 S. Bowen property in Arlington, TX. I wish it were closer to me so I could shoot there all the time!

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
No, since this shoot was for my senior models and I wanted the entire group to coordinate, I chose the concepts and main clothing items. Each model did get to choose one additional outfit strictly for some individual shots. I want to make sure to have some variety for their personal marketing materials.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
I shot with a D700 and D800 mostly with an 85 f/1.8 or 135 f/2. I used all natural light and reflectors.

What time of day were these taken?
Between 1:00 pm and 6:30 pm.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
My favorite thing about this session is the camaraderie that I could see developing among the girls as they spent the day together. That is one of the most fun parts of being a part of the senior model team – the chance to meet new people and make new friends – so I love seeing that come to life before my eyes. I’m also SO thrilled with how the full group shots came out. All of those countless hours spent in Altar’d State fine-tuning outfits paid off!

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
This is obviously a little different than a typical senior session, but I hope that it still captures what a fun and youthful group of girls that I have the pleasure of working with this next year. I also hope that it shows potential clients how we can push the envelope a little and come up with something unique and creative just for them!

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
I know it will sound silly, but sometimes you have to throw your plans to the side and just have fun! This group was more than double the size of my group of models from this past year, and despite all of the intense planning, all I knew for sure was that things would NOT go as planned. Of course, they didn’t. 🙂 The wonderful thing about working with seniors is that they are so excited to be there – always keep that in mind and ride that wave of enthusiasm!
