Creating photo sessions or concept shoots around an event that is an important part of a senior’s life is a great idea.  Prom is one of the biggest events of a high school senior!

Trish Hadley created a prom shoot by partnering with other vendors and looking to Vanity Fair as inspiration.

Check out this Gorgeous session below and start thinking of what you will do for Prom 2015!!  It’s never too early to start planning! 🙂

Brief Description of the Session you are submitting
Prom Fashion Shoot ~ Collaboration with local vendors:
The H Hotel (venue)

LC Makeup Artistry (makeup)
Lindsey Rae (Hair Stylist)
Trisha Hadley (Photography)
Event Elements (Event Planning)
5 local seniors from various schools, all mid-Michigan area

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Vanity Fair covers that feature the group shots. 🙂

Where did this photo shoot take place?
The H Hotel in Midland, Michigan

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
No. I put the concept and the details on Pinterest for all of the vendors to reference.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Nikon, D600 + D700
Lenses, 50 mm and 24-70

What time of day were these taken?
early afternoon

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I do all initial editing in Camera Raw then use primarily photoshop and Alien Skin/Exposure.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
Individual portraits of the girls. Most of them were super nervous and I think they all did fabulous job!

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I actually do not specialize in senior portraits, more so just portraiture for women. Working with that age group was a little out of the norm for me. But I love girlie things—makeup, dresses, etc., so of course shooting with girls who share those common interests made the shoot much easier.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Since I don’t have a ton of experience, not much! Just treat them like they’re adults and not talk down to them. I think most teens are savvy enough to smell it on you if that’s what you’re doing. 🙂
