Where did this photo shoot take place?
On a beautiful Hawaiian beach.  By the time we got there (we were a little bit late), we were running down the beach in order to get set up!

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
Not for this one.  I did, however, bounce the idea off of and collaborate with my awesome hair and makeup stylist, Kendra Hittinger!  She’s amazing!!

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
I used my Canon Mark II, 85mm 1.2L, and OCF for some of the shots.  I also had four amazing people that helped out on the shoot that I couldn’t have pulled it off without!

What time of day were these taken?
Sunset

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I primarily use Lightroom for editing, but I used Photoshop CC to add the textures to these.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
My favorite thing about this session is what it represents.  Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  With the 4th of July right around the corner, I wanted to do a shoot that would remind some about our freedoms and serve as a reminder to be thankful for it.  I love that this model is the daughter of a U.S. Army soldier. It makes it even more poignant.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I love that my senior models are always up for anything and totally go with the flow when I come up with a crazy idea!  I love to give my seniors an amazing senior portrait experience during a normal senior shoot, but allowing myself to have these creative shoots definitely keeps me on edge creatively and having fun.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Have fun!  The sessions may not always go off exactly as planned, but if you roll with it and have fun, you will end up with amazing images that are unique to the personality of the senior you are photographing!
