emma-tomlin-1emma-tomlin-2emma-tomlin-14What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Emma wanted something authentically Austin and her style was a gorgeous mix of uptown and boho-chic…half sophisticated neutrals and half vibrant color palette.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
South Congress district in Austin, Texas

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
Yes!  She has great taste in fashion so it was really more a matter of narrowing down what she wanted to wear and she knew she wanted a location that felt authentically like Austin before she leaves for college.  The personality of South Congress was perfect.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Canon 5D Mark III and Canon 85 1.2L

What time of day were these taken?
Two hours before sunset

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I like to use blend modes and selective color (but not like THAT!) in photoshop to add an extra pop to my photos.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
The range of looks we were able to capture and the vibrance of the fashion, scenery, and Emma’s beauty!

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
Emma is really fun to hang out with and has great style and a sense of humor.  That meshed really well with my style, which is vibrant and fun and happy and colorful.  I wanted all those things to come across in her photos.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Have fun with your seniors.  Get to know them and what their interests are…Becoming friends will help them to be more genuine and relaxed in their photos.
