When it comes to what to wear for a senior photo session,  having your senior incorporate her favorite thing in her closet is a perfect choice for the session.

“Heather loves to wear her fitted leather jacket, so a local deactivated Army fort provided the perfect backdrop for its rusty, grungy feel,” said Sarah of Sarah Elle Photography.  “And the field of wheat right next to the abandoned barracks was the segue we needed to show off the softer side of her personality.”

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Heather loves to wear her fitted leather jacket, so a local deactivated Army fort provided the perfect backdrop for its rusty, grungy feel. And the field of wheat right next to the abandoned barracks was the segue we needed to show off the softer side of her personality.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
Fort Monroe in Hampton, Virginia.

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
Heather provided a lot of initial inspiration for both the location and the shoot. We then worked together to bring to life her dynamic personality through her additional outfit choices (like her floral crop top) and her hair and makeup.

Hair: Tara Perez
Makeup: Makeup by Vega

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Nikon D610
Nikon 50 1.4G
Sigma 85mm 1.4

What time of day were these taken?
early evening

What is your favorite thing about this session?
I love how we found a way to show off multiple aspects of who Heather is through location, hair and makeup, and wardrobe all working together as one.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
This session conveys how dynamic each Senior is and that when you truly take the time to get to know each girl you work with, you find their individuality can really shine through their images.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
One big tip I live by is to always be prepared to “go with the flow.” No matter how well thought out a session is, there are no guarantees it will go as planned, so being flexible and making the best out of what you have will always result in a positive (and often memorable) experience!
