How do you create a session unique enough for your own daughter?  Well, give her a session every month of her senior year!!  Margo Stewart of madigan.e.photography submitted this session of her daughter and I just loved the idea of documenting her senior year by photographing her every month with a different photo shoot!  What a great way to capture her before she heads off to college!!

Margo shared a little about this process with us below…

I’ve been shooting senior photography for several years now.  One question I often get asked is whether or not a senior should have their session in the fall or the spring.  I always say that it is a personal preference and give my clients as much information for them to make their decision.  Last year, my role as photographer was met with my role as senior parent and I realized just how hard it can be to decide on the best time of year for a senior session.  I thought about all of the different things I tell my clients about which season might be best and why.  In the end, I decided I didn’t want to have to choose just one season (and honestly I wanted to draw her senior year out as long as I could!)  and so the Senior Year Mini Session Event was born.

We started after school began in August and did a mini-session each month, trying to incorporate a location and style that really spoke as to who Madi is.  It was a blast, not only being creative with my photography but having the opportunity to really do things that represented my sweet girl and document them.  There were a couple months where I was busy with my “real” work and we weren’t sure a mini-session would happen.  But we were able to find little blocks of time each month when both of our schedules allowed for some time together.

Madi has spread her wings and is currently a freshman at Ozark Christian College in Joplin, about 3 hours away from home.  While we miss her terribly, we know she’s right where she’s supposed to be.  And having a year’s worth of mini-sessions to look back on and remember how much fun we had together, sure has made the transition on this Momtographer a bit easier!

Check out this year full of mini sessions in photos below!  Thank you so much for sharing this with us Margo!!  To see more of Margo’s work, click here.
