Bold colors, confidence and a vibrant personality capped off with throwing confetti made this shoot a great inspiration to senior photographers.  Ling Wang of Ling Wang Photography in Houston, Texas says that she was inspired by this senior who is part of the dance team at her school.

“I was immediately struck by her confidence and vibrant personality,” said Ling.

I think you can see that personality shine through in these fun photos below!  Check them out and read what else Ling had to say about this beautiful senior session!

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Kathryn is a part of the dance team at her school, and when I first met her, I was immediately struck by her confidence and vibrant personality.  She told me she wanted bold colors and confetti, and that’s exactly what we did.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
Kemah Boardwalk in Houston, TX.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Canon 5D Mark III, 85mm f/1.4, 50mm f/1.4, and 35mm f/2.0, a ladder, and reflector

What time of day were these taken?
3 Hours before sundown

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
Mostly just Lightroom, and some retouching in photoshop.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
The confetti shots are my favorite.  It took so many tries, but confetti and glitter everywhere makes me so happy. We made a mess, but often times, the best sessions get a little messy.

Life is a little messy, and we have to embrace it.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
We were the perfect match.  I have a very bold and vibrant style, and Kathryn is exactly those two words personified. We both love color and laughter, and that was all captured in this session.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
I highly recommend a pre-session consultation to get the outfits down and hiring a professional makeup artist. How a senior feels is so important, and the more beautiful they feel during the session, the more likely they are to be themselves.  Most seniors aren’t used to having a giant camera pointed at them, but if they feel good about themselves beforehand, they’re going to perform better in front of the camera and love the photos so much more.
