What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Our inspiration for the shoot revolved around her horse and family farm. I took the quintesential Southern feel throughout her photos to keep them relaxed and fun with Mary Lee’s undeniable sense of fashion and flair for fun! She’s an aspiring photographer and was as natural in front of the camera as she is behind the lens.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
Just outside of Statesboro, Georgia on her families horse farm.

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
Yes. Mary Lee had asked to include her horse and I introduced the garland. We pulled pieces from her closet that matched the colors and feel.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Nikon D700
70-200 VR f/2.8

What time of day were these taken?
3-5pm

What is your favorite thing about this session?
Mary Lee! Her personality shines through perfectly. I was able to capture so many of her emotions and her style perfectly.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
It’s very personal to Mary Lee through using locations on her family’s farm that were meaningful to her and by incorporating her style as much as possible even in the areas that we obviously arranged. It’s still very natural and authentic.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Style your sessions as a collaboration with your Seniors. Keeping them involved and actively engaged in the process builds excitement and the end result is encouraging and builds a positive image of themselves. The key to successful collaboration is listening and trying things you may not have otherwise considered. This will open the door for creativity to flow.
