What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
I wanted to keep it simple for this shoot and really natural. Bringing it all back to the basics.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
We went to this lovely little park located on the Southern tip of Okinawa. It’s absolutely beautiful.

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
I had several different concept ideas already in my mind and we decided to go with the very natural feeling one. I also created the dress that she wore throughout the shoot.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
For this session I used my Canon 6D with my 24-70 2.8. Most of these images were shot with full natural light, but I used a fill flash for a few of them: Yongnuo 560II.

What time of day were these taken?
We started shooting around 3:00pm and wrapped it up around 5:00pm.

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I love using levels to create deeper colors in images. It’s also a useful tool for removing unwanted haze in a picture.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
Her freckles! I adore freckles and I absolutely love photographing people with them. This girl was also incredibly fun to shoot with and was up for just about anything.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I really wanted to let her natural beauty shine through in these images and I didn’t want to overpower that. Don’t get me wrong, I love doing crazy concept shoots with extensive hair and makeup, but there is something so powerful about a young woman being comfortable with her natural self. It’s absolutely amazing.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Have fun with your seniors. Don’t make it all about “I have to get this shot”. Just have fun and enjoy the shoot. The more relaxed the senior is the better the images will turn out.
