An American Flag represents so much and in this particular session it represents a time when the senior’s family and the photographer’s family met.  The senior and Courtney of Courtney Fuselier Photography met when both of their brothers were accepted to the US Naval Academy so it was a perfect idea to incorporate the American Flag!

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
I’ve known Kelli Rae for the past 4 years. Watching her grow into a stunning young woman has been amazing. Our families met when our brothers were both accepted to the US Naval Academy.  When we were talking about what she and her family wanted out of her session, they brought up the American flag. DUH! How could we not use that? Kelli Rae is super model size. Tall, thin, and long legs. I knew I wanted to do something a little more high fashion with her while still incorporating younger fashion.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
The session took place in downtown Abbeville, LA… about 20 minutes outside of Lafayette.

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
The one thing we knew for sure was the American flag. She showed up to hair and makeup with bags full of clothing. From there, I chose and accessorized the final outfits.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
This session was shot with the Nikon D700, 85 1.8, and a reflector.

What time of day were these taken?
We shot from 4:00pm to 6:30pm.

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I like to keep my images very clean but full of color. I used Bridge to cull the images, ACR and Photoshop to add the final touches.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
I LOVE how we were able to capture her as a high school senior while showcasing how beautiful she is.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I want it to show my love for color and fun. My brand is based off of those two things. I love when my girls can laugh and have fun at their session and then see how beautiful they are in print.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Have fun with them. Show them you care. Give them peeks at the back of the camera to show them how amazing they look. Be their friend!!
