Capturing the changing colors of the leaves makes a beautiful backdrop to a senior photo session.  Promising change and new beginnings with each leaf that turns bright red, orange or yellow, the season of fall is like the life of a high school senior.  They are experiencing change as they go through the last year of high school and look forward to what is to come.

The session below showcases the season of fall while capturing this senior’s last year of high school.  Claire Anderson of Clara Bella Photography was one of the finalists for the Seniorologie Fall Image Contest and we wanted to share this entire session with you.  Check it out below and be sure to check out more of Claire’s work here.  Thanks for sharing your work with us Claire!

Brief Description of the Session…
Fall Senior Session (Chosen as a finalist for the Fall Seniorologie Contest)

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Fall had just begun so I was looking forward to capturing the changing leaves and trees along with this beautiful Senior!

Where did this photo shoot take place?
Highland Park, TX

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
I make a pinterest board just for my senior girls with inspiration ideas and have them text me their outfits so I can get a feel for their style. Their outfits determine the shoot location.

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Canon 5D Mark II, 85mm 1.2L and 50 1.2L

What time of day were these taken?
2 hours prior to sunset to get the golden hour feel

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I use a mixture of my own actions, curves and one action from the florabella set to give all my images the same feel.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
Lindsay is not only gorgeous but she is an absolute sweetheart! I knew she would photograph beautifully but she was such a natural in front of my camera like she had been modeling for years! I just loved getting to know her, and capturing her at such a special time of her life.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
Although Lindsay is definitely super model status, I wanted this session to really convey her as the beautiful and sweet high school senior she is. I know all the girls want to feel like a model for a day so I try my best to blend that along with photos I know mom will want as keepsakes from their daughter’s high school years.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Like any relationship, communication is key!  I try to develop a friendship with the girls as soon as they book so by the time we meet it’s like meeting up with an old friend! By the end of our session I feel like we just got done “hanging out” and I feel like that really portrays through their images.
