What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
Brie is a dancer and we wanted to incorporate her pointe shoes at an old, rustic location.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
Folsom, CA and at the Old Sugar Mill in Clarksburg, CA

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
Absolutely! I meet with every senior, and their parent(s), before their session to plan all of the details. We talk about outfits, locations, and any ideas they might want to try. Brie wanted to do something different for her senior session. The locations and outfits she chose were perfect!

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
Nikon D300s and my favorite lens – 85mm 1.8.

What time of day were these taken?
5-8pm

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
Minor tweaks in ACR and curves in Photoshop. For my black and whites, I used Michelle Kane’s Elite action.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
Brie. She is a funny, smart, beautiful girl who is full of laughter. She wasn’t afraid to laugh at herself and have a great time.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
That we always have fun! My number one goal is for my girls and guys to have fun. If they are having fun, it will show in their images. Plus, who doesn’t want to have fun while they *work*?

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Have fun! Get to know your senior a little bit before their session. Not only will they feel comfortable with you during their session, but you will as well. If you do that, you will be more creative and they will have a blast!
