Taking the leap into full time photography is something a lot of people go through.  For Brianna Stevenson of Brianna Wilbur Photography she went from being a full time nurse and photographer to now being a full time photographer.

“I’ve always wanted to grow the senior side of my business but didn’t have the time over the last few years as I was also working a full time job.  As soon as I officially switched professions, this was high on my priority list!” said Brianna.  “This is my first official spokesmodel group ever!!”

What was your inspiration for this photo shoot?
As mentioned, my inspiration for this shoot was my official launch into senior photography since going full time. I imagined this group shoot to be very soft, girly, and feminine with a lot of neutral shades paired with different textured fabrics. I am drawn to happy, joyful images so I knew that is something they I wanted them to exude.

Where did this photo shoot take place?
At a local, working farm right down the road from my house!

Did you collaborate with this senior to come up with the clothing and/or concept for this shoot?
Absolutely! I sent them some outfit inspirations for the group shoot with color palettes and fabric recommendations. I made an inspiration board on pinterest of solid outfit ideas for their “so you” look as well. I had each girl send me photos of their outfit ideas and encouraged them to bring many options and accessories to the getting ready location where we solidified outfits!

What camera, lens or other equipment was used for this shoot?
I’m a canon lover! I used a 5d mk iii, 85mm/1.2 L, 50m,/1.2L.

What time of day were these taken?
mid afternoon

Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I prefer a clean style with a light film inspired touch. I edit solely in lightroom. I strive to make all female portraits look like the best, realistic, versions of themselves.

What is your favorite thing about this session?
I love the colors of the group shoot, it was exactly what I envisioned. However, what I love most is the relationship that was formed between all the girls! I had them over to my home for lunch while professional hair and makeup was completed on every one of them. We spent the afternoon talking about life, picking outfits, and just laughing the day away. I was so impressed with how kind and enthusiastic this group was. I truly love my 2016 Senior Reps.

What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I want them to know that my sessions will be tailored to their personality and that I will bring out the joyful, most natural, most beautiful version of themselves. I want people to know that I work with REAL girls in natural settings and love making them feel confident and beautiful. Most importantly, I’m invested in them! This isn’t just a 9-5 job for me, this is my passion. I love these girls and I love this job.

What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Bring the energy. I truly believe in the quote of “you attract what you are.” These girls are in a super exciting time period of their lives. This session serves to celebrate them, their start of young womanhood, and how beautiful they are in their own skin. I think it’s important for senior photographers to be positive, excited, reaffirming, and confident in their posing to craft images that capture who these girls really are. You need a lot of energy for this and to bring out the best in your senior!
