What teen, and let’s be honest even adults, doesn’t identify with Taylor Swift?  She is open and honest in her music, has her own unique look and seems to be a super sweet person!  And because of that, there are many teens that are inspired by her and her style.  So when I received this beautiful Taylor Swift inspired concept session from Diana of Simply D Photography, I knew I had to feature it!!
Diana shows how to make a shoot fun but also formal.  This senior wears her prom dress and it works with the props and set beautifully!  According to Diana, you don’t just have to be casual in your senior photo session!!  And you can see why in the photos below!!  Thanks for sharing Diana!!
What was your inspiration for the photo shoot?
I wanted to show senior girls that they don’t just have to make their senior session a casual. I wanted to show them that they can wear their prom dress and rock out their senior session with hair and make up as well. Who doesn’t want to feel like a model? 🙂
Where did this photo shoot take place?
Durant Nature Park in Raleigh, NC
Was this a concept shoot just for you?
This is a styled shoot we did and we wanted to have Taylor Swift as a theme and also show off her gorgeous prom dress!
What did you hope to showcase about your photography with this session?
How fun our senior girls have with us and we think outside of the box when it comes to working with us.
Did you collaborate with a makeup artist, hairstylist or stylist for this shoot?
Yes I did! Karen Michelle Clark did her hair and make up and she’s a fabulous artist, and she’s so much fun to be around too!
What camera, lens and equipment were used for this shoot?
I used my canon 500d and my 28mm 1.8 for this shoot.
What time of day were these taken?
These were taken closer to sunset.
Can you share any post-processing techniques used when editing this session?
I like to keep it as natural as possible, so I get the exposure right on my camera and just Formula One’s Organic actions to make the color pop a bit more!
What is your favorite thing about this session?
My favorite thing about this session, I can’t just pick one thing, because it was all so amazing! I would say my favorite thing was watching Lizzie have fun and tell me how beautiful she felt during the session and how beautiful she felt even after the session! I love that!
What do you want this session to convey about this senior and about your senior photography style?
I wanted to show how fun senior portraits can be and how important they can be as well. I love being creative with my senior girls and I’m huge on fashion and love incorporating fashion into my poses.
What is one tip you can share with other photographers regarding photographing seniors?
Always get to know your senior beforehand, take them out for coffee with their parents. Anything. Knowing them beforehand will help them feel more comfortable in front of the camera!
What is one thing you learned by doing this concept shoot?
The one thing I learned about this concept shoot was how much more passionate I am about doing senior portraits. I love them!
