When two fabulous senior photographers team up to throw a workshop in Las Vegas, you want to join them!  Unfortunately, I did not get the chance to join them for their awesome workshop due to other engagements I had during WPPI.  However, I did get to sit down with them for breakfast (or rather a huge bowl of oatmal!!) a couple of days later and I was able to interview them on their experience!  Read below to find out how they came together to plan this workshop and what they loved about it!!  Also, check out their behind the scenes photos from the day!

How did you come together to teach this workshop?  A year ago we connected via email then started skype-ing each other often!  We wanted something different and thought by teaming up we could offer something better than each of us on our own.

Was this your first workshop together?  It was our first together and our first workshop in Vegas!

What was the planning process like?  It was great!  We were able to split things up, bounce ideas off of each other and share the load.  We worked really well together and were a perfect match!

What was the feedback from attendees?  They loved it!  We heard from them that it was nice to take away two different perspectives and that they took tips from each of us, put those tips together to make their own new ideas for their businesses.

How did you come up with the concept for the photo shoot portion?  The location determined the look and then we pulled clothing from Sarah’s boutique. (Sarah has a clothing boutique within her photography studio!  How awesome!!)

How many models did you have?  6 girls and 1 boy

What was the day like?  We started out with us talking about us, who we are and why we do what we do.  After that we went into marketing, workflow and senior model programs.  We broke for lunch then came back together for a Q&A.  After that, we headed out to do the shoot.

What was your goal for this workshop?  We wanted to give the attendees the tools to help them do what works for their businesses.  We wanted to show them that there is not one way to be successful but rather several paths that can all lead to success.

What did you learn during the process of planning and executing this workshop?  We both learned a lot from each other.  We each have our own way of doing things but through the planning process, we saw how we both do things and realized some things from each other could be used in our own businesses.

What is the most important tip you can give photographers who are trying to decide on a workshop to attend?  When you are trying to determine a workshop to attend, follow a photographer’s work closely.  Don’t just look at their images, look at their marketing techniques, etc.  Get to know them and their work before you invest in their workshop.  Make sure they are the right fit for you.
