Today’s feature is all about Directory Member Susie Larsen of Susie Larsen Photography in Idaho!  Check out what Susie has to say about photographing seniors, herself and much more!

How long have you been in business? I have been doing paid portfolio building sessions for about a year and am just about to launch my

official business.

What percentage of your business is seniors? 50%

What do you think makes a perfect senior session? great weather, good light, and most of all, a senior who loves attention, is relaxed and thrilled to be there!

What do you love most about photographing seniors? They are beautiful and handsome and they have a sense of adventure, confidence and optimism that shines through in their faces and attitudes.

What would you say is the biggest challenge in your business? myself. I am a chicken and my worst critic.

Describe your photography style?  I’d like it to be vintage, rustic, even kitschy, and I am longing to do some lifestyle sessions (see below)

What motivates or inspires you in your photography? Real life. There is so much beauty and drama in every day life. I really want to be able to step into “every day life” and photograph it. With seniors it would be: going to dance class, standing on the sidelines or at practice or in the dugout with them, reading or studying… taking a picture of those moments, the way they spend their days, who they really are. But, ya know, I love the whole, dress up, get the makeup done, 3 best outfits, at the farm, in a field, with old cars and buildings thing, too!
